Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Featuring Billie Piper, Radio 2 Drivetime Evans, a danceoff with a baby and a little bit of MJ.
She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one Who will dance on the floor in the round She said I am the one who will dance on the floor in the round She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one Who will dance on the floor in the round
Michael Jackson is singing about a woman with the potential to be something of a beauty queen - a far cry from his usual subject matter then. He is stating (in prose) a conversation that he may or may not have had with Billie (honey 2 tha bee that's you for meeee), who last time I checked was flogging her bits on ITV2 after a relatively successful career move as Rose on Doctor Who and a relatively unsuccessful marriage to Radio 2 Drive-time Evans. Billie likes Mickey because he is willing to do a bit of dancing because he's a bit of a cool guy (I wonder if that's where Radio 2 Drive-time Evans went wrong?). Even as Billie is causing a bit of a scene (is Belle de Jour on the telly?) she is trying to convey her moniker to MJ - yet the issue here is that she is attracting a bit of attention from the other alpha males in the establishment, and as a result MJ could yet have his work cut out for him. Oooh, ahhh.
People always told me be careful of what you do And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts And mother always told me be careful of who you love And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth
MJ is concerned because other people are showing concern for his concern, and this is all very concerning indeed. However this concern isn't so much for the welfare of MJ but more for the welfare of others - he is going around and breaking the hearts of young boys....sorry girls. His mother (unlike his controlling patriarchal father who was determined to make the Jackson Music Dynasty...sorry the Jackson 5 reality) gives him some quite useful advice in the form of warning him about who he goes on to love - advice he could have done with a few years ago really. And indeed in another absolutely astounding quote given events that would go on after this song he talks about being careful of what you do and the images that you give off because lies and rumours can become truth - reading this from a critical and satirical eye this is astonishing stuff.
Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims that I am the one But the kid is not my son She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
Billie is not MJ's lover (she has a number of lovers according to a certain program on ITV2), despite her claims to the contrary. This is a development and one that should prick up the ears of the interested parties - though they may well lose interest when they find out that there is a son involved, and instead may well do the somewhat typically manly (well...) thing of picking up and moving on to someone else who is unburdened by little-non-MJ.
For forty days and forty nights The law was on her side But who can stand when she's in demand Her schemes and plans 'Cause we danced on the floor in the round So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice (do think twice)
For some utterly bizarre and unbeknown reference MJ brings the story of Noahs Ark (or is it lent?) into this piece with the mention of Forty Days and Forty Nights - unless of course this is a subtle reference to the dire Josh Hartnett (I think?) film Forty Days, Forty Nights which is among the worst things ever committed to film. But I digress.
The law was apparently on Billies side; hand on - something's amiss here. Why is the law being brought into, well, anything? There has been no mention of rohypnol, date rape, assault or anything of the sort so why the law is being brought into this is anyone's guess. MJ then goes on about how nobody is able to stand around when she's available and in supply and indeed demand (so how come he's rejected her?) - although he is talking about how she schemes (I hardly believe that Billie has the wherewithal to pull off any real grand schemes or plans that could drastically affect, well, anyone) and makes dastardly plans.
Hilariously Jackson then commits that most hypocritical of acts by warning others to "always think twice". Literally bathing in irony here...
She told my baby we'd danced 'till three
Then she looked at me
Then showed a photo my baby cried
His eyes looked like mine
Go on dance on the floor in the round, baby
MJ is now talking about a baby - the baby that he previously denied was his is now coming back to haunt him, and how. But MJ's reaction to this, which should be to offer to take some of the burden off the mother and involve himself as a father figure in this child's life, is instead to challenge his child to a dance off.
I can't quite see the point of this I have to admit. Perhaps he feels that if this child can at least match him on the dance floor then he can prove that this child is his (or indeed not) better and with more certainty than any DNA test could ever hope to accomplish. Billie has taken a background role during this, clearly distressed at the drama she is causing. Well, or so we thought until...
She came and stood right by me Then the smell of sweet perfume This happened much too soon She called me to her room
Michael Jackson is getting involved with Billie Piper. FACT. (ish)
