Michael Jackson - Human Nature

In which Dave has a look at Michael Jackson and his absolutely bizarre street/city/town/other settlement fetish.

Looking out Across the night-time The city winks a sleepless eye Hear her voice Shake my window Sweet seducing sighs

Michael has a very strange fetish, as according to these lyrics he appears to be seducing a city. I'm not sure which city, but I could hazard a guess it is somewhere sleazy like Bankok or Las Vegas as this city seems well up for it! An obvious concern for this relationship is how Michael and the city will express their love physically as I don't think there's anything Michael could do that would satisfy a city, especially as this city seems to have been 'around-the-block' a few times.

city

Perhaps Michael would have better chance of satisfying a more straight laced city like Bath or Nashville Tennessee, as they would have less expectations of pleasure theoretically. Well that is unless the years of abstinence hide a secret pleasure appetite. Can you imagine what would happen if Bath went off the rails and started opening lots of strip bars within itself or inviting motorcycle gangs into its midst?

Get me out Into the night-time Four walls won't hold me tonight If this town Is just an apple Then let me take a bite

Hang on a second I'm confused here? Michaels now referring to his love interest as a town now, so what is it a town or a city? Let's be fair there are numerous differences between cities and towns, Size for one and the presence - or lack of - a cathedral.
However could there be more sinister activities afoot? Could Michael be cheating on his town with this sleazy city? This is disgraceful, although it is so often the way that a man cheats on a good town when a sexy and alluring city draws him in. It's an oft-told tale, and I just hope no children are hurt in the process. It's the kids that always get hurt the most when a relationship becomes a love triangle like this.

If they say - Why, why, tell 'em that is human nature Why, why, does he do me that way If they say - Why, why, tell 'em that is human nature Why, why, does he do me that way

Michael is defending his deceit by arguing he is just responding to human nature. Perhaps these lyrics are the dialogue of him breaking the news to his wife (the town) and his children, assuming he has any that is.
If the town has any self respect then it should throw him out and make him go back to his mistress, if she'll have him that is. However it's more likely the town will begrudgingly let him stay and waste its love and energy on a scoundrel like Michael Jackson.

Reaching out To touch a stranger Electric eyes are ev'rywhere See that girl She knows I'm watching She likes the way I stare

Oh dear! Michael doesn't seem to know shame as now he's starting to hang-out with strange villages now. He's been drawn in by their modern and elaborate electricity grids, and probably by their simple traffic systems too. It's so easy to for a serial-adulterer like Michael to lure in these simple settlements and then hurt them.

Still as he says they like the attention and his stare, then again have they seen his stare lately? It's not that alluring but then who am I to talk about what a settlement should find attractive, each to their own after all.

I like livin' this way I like lovin' this way

Well all that needs to be said I think is that Michael has no regrets about his actions.

Looking out Across the morning The city's heart begins to beat Reaching out I touch her shoulder I'm dreaming of the street

triangleMichael's now waking up next to his city, after a night of passion-spent and can hear its heart-beat next to his. It's almost romantic - or as romantic as Jacko can get really - but there is a snag. Michaels dreaming of someone else, his philandering knows no limit! Is he thinking of abusing the innocent villages like I suggested earlier?

No it's worse than I thought. Michael isn't moving onto villages but onto streets, does he know no shame! I know Michael has a bit of a thing for immature partners but a street? So early in its life dreaming of when it will form into a block and then finally into a fully fledged village or town, or maybe even a city. Then Michael comes along and takes advantage of these communities trying to expand too fast with his fancy walk, and his staring eyes, and leaves them when he's had his way with them. What a bastard.
